Police have charged a 49-year-old Leilani Estates man with second-degree attempted murder in a Tuesday night spear gun attack that seriously wounded a 20-year-old Leilani Estates man.

Bail for Georg Robert Curnutt was set at $500,000. He is being held at the Hilo police cell block until his initial court appearance, scheduled for 1 p.m. today.

Curnutt allegedly shot 20-year-old William Sullivan during a dispute late Tuesday night on a Leilani Avenue property Sullivan’s parents own, and on which Curnutt was living in a broken-down bus.

Sullivan underwent surgery at Hilo Medical Center, and at last report was in serious but stable condition.
